FAOSTAT

 

 FAOSTAT is a world-wide agricultural statistical database (including food, fisheries, forestry, trade and demography), covering the period from 1961 up to present. The original statistical data is supplied by each country or intergovernmental organisation.

It is managed by WAICENT (World Agricultural Information Centre) of the Library and Documentation Systems Division (GIL) of FAO.

 

 FAOSTAT contains over one million time series records of statistics relating to 210 countries and territories in the following domains:

- Production
- Trade
- Food Balance Sheets
- Food Aid Shipments
- Fertiliser and Pesticides
- Land Use and Irrigation
- Forest Products
- Fishery Products
- Population
- Agricultural Machinery
 

 FAOSTAT can be consulted using English, French or Spanish and the database management software allows users to select and organise the statistical information into tables and charts according to their needs.

 

 The database is annually updated (each year the most recent data are incorporated in with previous years).

 

 FAOSTAT is available on-line on the Internet (FAO Web Server) and also on CD-ROM and diskettes, as well as in printed yearbooks and other special publications, which can be ordered from WAICENT.
